The winter sports seasons for all programs are able to begin this weekend, based on the latest update by the MDHHS and the MHSAA. Previously, ski had been the only winter sport allowed to compete.
The upcoming practice and tryout information for girls basketball, boys basketball, hockey, competitive cheer, boys swim and dive, and wrestling are listed below. All but swim and dive are considered “contact” sports by the MDHHS and may begin practices Saturday, Jan. 16 but must delay any activities that involve physical contact between individuals until Feb. 1, per the recent update to the MDHHS epidemic plan.
In order to participate, each student-athlete must have proof of a physical examination, dated after April 15, 2020, on file. All physicals dated between April 15, 2019 and April 15, 2020 are acceptable only if a completed MHSAA Health Questionnaire Form (found on the RCS website) has been turned in to the athletic office.
Before each practice/tryout, student-athletes must fill out a Google COVID-19 survey. Once at the practice/tryout, on-site temperature checks will be conducted. Those with COVID symptoms or a temperature above 100.3 will be sent home.
Student-athletes and coaches also must wear masks at all times during practices. Swimmers and divers do not need to wear masks when they are in the pool.
